Ben Miller

Miller’s paintings manipulate various mediums on metallic surfaces

About

Ben Miller is an artist with many facets to his practice and who lives and works in Launceston, Tasmania. Ben is a painter, an art educator and also involves himself in many public and street art projects.

His paintings manipulate various mediums on metallic surfaces using spray enamel, silk screen printing, free-brushing as well as grinding, drilling, sanding and pop riveting the surfaces. Conceptually exploring environmentalism and industrialisation (and a personal ambivalence), the imagery comes from a variety of sources adding to his super-hybrid approach blending expression with realism.

Practicing for over 20 years, he has had several solo shows in Tasmania and been part of many group exhibitions locally and nationally including the Glover Prize Finalist (Tas), Art Tastic Winner (Tas),  Agendo Art Award Finalist (Vic), Trek Finalist, Judges Commendation (Tas), and Belle Arti Prize (Vic). Ben’s work is in private collections in Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Sydney and China. He has a BFA, Bed and MCA and is the director at Scotch Oakburn College’s s.p.a.c.e Gallery.
