Steve Lopes

About

A celebrated figurative painter with work in the National Gallery collection, Lopes was raised in Sydney in a migrant family who for generations were fishermen and land workers on the volcanic Aeolian Islands off the coast of Sicily. This latest show plots a course through lands both foreign and familiar, inspired by family history and the artist’s view of the landscape as a vehicle for investigating human existence.
