Gavin MacSporran

Designer, goldsmith and silversmith

After commencing an architecture degree at Melbourne University and working within the industry, Gavin became drawn to the immediacy of interpretation of the environment in hand crafted fine artwork and completed an Art & Design degree at Monash University.

The interpretation of the raw elegance and beauty of the Australian landscape, the interaction of water, fire and earth distilled through the hammer became and still is his passion.

Since graduation Gavin has travelled widely exhibiting and selling his work throughout Australia, the Pacific, and the USA. He has been commissioned to design and make corporate giftware and symbols of office for dignitaries in the South Pacific, along with many beautiful engagement rings, commitment rings and pieces of fine art jewellery for those who follow his work.

Creating Fine Art jewellery and silver smithing works is both a passion and a love and has taken Gavin and his family around the world exploring cultures, beautiful landscapes and enabling his children to be both multi-cultural and multi-lingual Australians before eventually settling in Tasmania where he now lives with his wife.
