Janine Combes contemporary Tasmanian jeweller


Working from a studio on Bruny Island (Sandra) Janine Combes explores the intersect between nature and history through the medium of contemporary jewellery. She uses a wide variety of materials and methods to create sculptural, textured and layered works.

Combes comes to jewellery making from a professional background in community development, and social planning. She has studied jewellery making at TAFE Tasmania, Alchimia Jewellery School in Italy and undertaken residencies at Muong Studio in North Vietnam and Maria Island (Dombrovskis Wilderness Residency 2018).

Combes has been awarded two Arts Tasmania grants and is represented by Handmark Tasmania. Her work has been shown nationally at the Australian Metal and Silverwork Award exhibition (Castlemaine), Contemporary Wearables (Toowoomba), Radiant Pavilion (Melbourne) and within Tasmania at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Handmark Tasmania, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, The Design Centre and Hadley’s Orient Hotel.
