Janine Combes

“In my artwork I explore repeating patterns, forms and textures informed by nature. I like to combine textured silver with non-organic materials such as plastic packaging or anodised aluminium to create sculptural, contemporary shaped objects that can be worn on the body.  Unlike the scientists and artists through the centuries who have collected, drawn and painted collections of animals and plants, I don’t want to explain, order or re-make the perfect. It is the essence rather than the actual that I want to capture, fleeting glimpses of something you’ve seen out of the corner of your eye.” Janine Combes, 2015.
