Tom Vincent is a jazz pianist, arranger and composer. He is one of Australia’s best regarded and most innovative improvising musicians. He is modern yet rooted in the tradition of blues and swing and is inspired by the masters Louis, Monk, Clifford, Ellington, Miles and Coltraine.
Tom has performed extensively world wide and has lived in New York, Amsterdam and France. Now based in Hobart, Tasmania, he continues to travel frequently to perform in concert, at jazz festivals and for special events. His bands include the Tom Vincent Trio, Tom Vincent Quartet, Tom Vincent Septet and Tom Vincent Eleventet.
Tom plays at the well known jazz venues in Australia and abroad and has performed at the Sydney Opera House with Branford Marsalis. As well as touring internationally and nationally on a regular basis he has released seven CDs as bandleader with his recently released seventh CD featuring the Tom Vincent Septet. The horn section of this group features the cream of the Australian jazz scene.
In his role as teacher and mentor Tom maintains his dedication to sharing the joy, know-how and development of creative jazz improvisation. He is currently composing and arranging for the Tom Vincent Eleventet.
Various funding bodies over the years have awarded Tom seventeen grants and loans for his music endeavours.
