Amber Koroluk-Stephenson

Painting, landscape, realism

About

Hobart based painter Amber Koroluk-Stephenson’s career has been on the rise since graduating from Tasmania’s School of Art with Honours in 2011.

Urban landscape’s, perfectly rendered, containing undertones of tension are what to expect when considering these works. A saturated palette of colour and light pulls the viewer into her carefully considered world. Endless narratives direct us to things that don’t quite feel right, leaving us to question what it is we take for granted or think we know. Her use of figures when seen from behind, allow us to place ourselves inside the canvas enabling contemplation from within the sense.

Other figures create an anchor for our gaze creating in us that unnerving feeling of watching from a distance an intimate suburban moment, belonging to someone else.
