“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” Søren Kierkegaard
“The postcard – a dying vehicle of communication from friends or loved-ones, separated by distance and circumstance. These objects, often a keepsake for the recipient of an experience or memory, are a document of the past. Using imagery from black and white postcards, these works reinterpret the content of a finite symbol in an attempt to construct an alternate past. By creating this parallel, it enables a better understanding of the present, abandoning the fleeting message initially inscribed, to reveal a more immersive narrative.” Blair Raymond Waterfield, 2015.
