Douglas McManus

Douglas McManus is a Melbourne based artist who works with digital technologies as well as  traditional print techniques. He creates unique works on paper and linen by intentionally altering  the accuracy of digital printers and laser cutters. Originally studying fine art printmaking  and painting, he began to experiment with textile media early in his career. A Key processes in his award winning work is laser engraving which is showcased in this exhibition. Using images, based on a series of photographs taken while living in Northern Tasmania, he applies layers of  pre-applied acrylic paint and engraving techniques to create unique state works  on linen canvas. McManus is represented in major Australian museums, including The Powerhouse, Sydney,  National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne and The  Queen Victoria Museum, Launceston.
