Ella Noonan

About

“My works draw on the natural world, playfully interpreting birds in their surroundings. Each black and white, pen-and-ink drawing is both a depiction and a design. The patterned subjects and backgrounds merge. The overall effect is suggestive of wallpaper or printed textile. I gain inspiration from books on botany and zoology to create pictures that feature birds which are imaginary, although they may seem somewhat familiar to the viewer. As I strive to bring these creatures to life, imbuing each with personality, I also aspire to create things of beauty.” Ella Noonan, 2015.
