“My paintings are meeting grounds. On the canvas, image, text and textile can overrun their usual boundaries; traditional crafts and contemporary fine arts can mingle and coalesce; and diverse cultural influences can morph and meld.
The thread-like application of paint becomes a metaphor for connecting, making, repairing. As with stitch, simplicity accumulates towards complexity. As with text, marks evolve towards meaning. Past and present come together. There are many threads to be followed.
The canvas is also, I hope, an open field where my thoughts and yours – the viewer’s – can meet.” Faridah Cameron, 2015.
