About

“To consider the sky as nothing more than a backdrop to our daily activities takes away the importance and influence this element has on our existence. An influence that determines our activities, our moods and our sense of security that we are safe from the fluctuating patterns of nature. The focus of this series of paintings deals with the sky above Tasmania and how it influences me not only as an artist but also as a participant within the space of the sky. My history and future are set against this backdrop, this common denominator which is forever shifting but at the same time forever constant. Clouds and winds move through the space of the sky and light and colour can radiate or diffuse across miles of space but the space remains constant.”

James Walker, 2015.
