Jonathan Partridge

Jonathan's work is a reflection of the metaphysical relationship of man and his symbols.

“There is a place that transcends space and time, subject and object. It is an experience where viewer and that which is viewed have no separation; there is no awareness of oneself or ones surroundings, perhaps a moment of pure perception. This is often an experience we have when we immerse ourselves into a grand landscape. We lose our limited sense of who we are and somehow feel whole and connected. It is as if the sum total of ones being, the billions of years of genetic evolution, remembers who it is. It is a primordial experience. We are of this earth, a species that has evolved with the changing face of this planet for millions of years. The earth is almost a burial ground of our long-lived collective consciousness. The giant spirits we have created have walked this earth and have come to rest as mountains and rivers. My nature studies are attempts to portray the diaphanous nature of the physical world. A physical world in constant flux- mountains are shadows of light and they move from form to form, nothing is solid. Just as in primitive art making symbols and ornamentation have a metaphysical value. My exploration is to elucidate our primordial awareness to the use and power of these symbols. It is an investigation and communication of the nature of things, an attempt to reflect a symbiosis of the human organism and their environment – a reflection of the metaphysical relationship of man and his symbols.” Jonathan Partridge, 2015.
