“My figures have simplicity of form and an inner focus expressing a quality of quiet contemplation enacting the rituals of a dream. They stand on the threshold of the not yet known, inviting you to find your own story. I use earthenware clay, hand building and colouring with layers of underglaze and slips. The endlessly inventive repeated forms and devotional intent of traditional cultures refresh and influence my work. From the window of my studio I look out to the Tasmanian coast, watching the changing sea, the land, the clouds and stars. These become personified in my work.” Sally Curry.
