Susan Doust is a visual artist working primarily on canvas with painting and drawing techniques. She uses a range of different media, including acrylics, inks, and pastels, which gives the opportunity for experimentation and unique and varied mark making in her work. Much of her art could be described as semi-abstracted – being original representations of landscape, nature and still life objects.
Her background as an ecologist and experiences living and working in remote and wild environments has provided inspiration for a lot of her paintings. Susan has a particular interest in Antarctic art, having spent several seasons in Antarctica working as a research scientist. Much of her art is also inspired by our everyday surrounds and objects that represent familiar or sentimental connections to culture or family. Susan has sold a number of artworks to private collectors based in Australia and overseas.
