Junction set to be bigger and better in 2017

Junction’s program for 2017 has a distinctly Tasmanian flavour. They have pulled together a line up of some of Tasmania’s talented and uniquely creative artists that will be presented alongside some outstanding acts from interstate.

The Junction Arts Festival has grown over the last seven years into a confident, carefree and creative arts festival that brings Launceston alive with music, performance, comedy and exhibitions in hidden and not so hidden spaces around the city.

This year the festival’s Creative Director Greg Clarke (a previous director of the Adelaide Fringe Festival) has hand picked some of the best shows on the world fringe circuit including Michael Griffiths a one-man cabaret sensation performing Madonna’s greatest hits in In Vogue or the songs of Annie Lennox in Sweet Dreams. Award winning multi-instrumentalist Adam Page is bringing his revolutionary solo-show YouTunes to the Prince’s Palace where he will manipulate live sampled sounds into epic spontaneous compositions that have to be heard to be believed.

Also worth grabbing ticket to is Uta Uber Kool Ja, that will be performed in a hotel room and is a once in a lifetime opportunity to party with the hilarious pop star-fashionista-celebrity that makes scraping the bottom of the barrel an art form.

Nightlight is an epic self-guided evening art walk that features 15 site-specific art installations by some of Tasmania’s most exciting artists and creators. Plus, don’t miss the late night jazz club Nightcap – new incarnation of the infamous Speakeasy with live jazz and a cool vibe.
