Launceston has a vibrant artistic culture, cycle friendly terrain and a dynamic city life and now you can grab an ARTBIKE and cycle your way around the city’s creative hubs.
Previously only available in Hobart, the popular bike-sharing program ARTBIKES now offers people a fun and environmentally friendly way to visit the many galleries and cultural precincts in Launceston and enjoy the work of our highly skilled Tasmanian artists.
ARTBIKES are available 7 days a week from Design Tasmania on the corner of Brisbane and Tamar Streets in Launceston. ARTBIKES are free when hired daily or can be hired for longer periods. They are Dutch designed Vanmoof bikes, built for urban riding and come complete with a helmet, lock and specially designed arts map to help navigate the many cultural experiences on offer.
If while out-and-about your ARTBIKE suffers a mechanical problem, such as a puncture or a loose chain, don’t panic! The RACT provides a free Bike Assist roadside service to riders of ARTBIKES.
ARTBIKES was first launched in Hobart by Arts Tasmania in 2011 in partnership with the Hobart City Council and with the support of the RACT and the Tasmanian Climate Change Office. In Launceston, Arts Tasmania is partnering with Design Tasmania to administer the program.
ARTBIKES is a great addition to the cultural life of Launceston and gives the community and visitors a new way to see some of the sights.
