The Art Exhibition by Gilbert and George has now opened at MONA. The exhibition is a retrospective with 97 pieces spanning the collaborative artists career from 1970 to 2014. The pair who create as one, kind of like a band, present work that is bold, imposing, and often huge, making for another highly stimulating major MONA exhibition. Gilbert and George push the concept of ‘art for all’, focusing on ideas and mediums that stray away from the often puzzling and obscure tendencies of modern art. Scribed on the wall of the exhibition the pair states ‘we want the most accessible modern form with which to create the most modern speaking visual pictures of our time’.
The exhibition continues through the Mona Foma festival into March 28 2016.
