Located in the historic Soundy Building (1883), adjoining the State Cinema in the vibrant North Hobart cultural hub, the State Cinema Bookstore is a boutique store selling fine books, cards, stationery and gifts. They specialise in hand-selected fiction, intriguing non-fiction, art, cooking and gardening. The range includes books from over forty Tasmanian authors, from huge successes like Richard Flanagan to small self-published local history stories.
They are an Aladdin’s cave of not only interesting books, but stationery, greeting cards and gift items. Their cards are hand-picked, the majority of which come from Tasmanian artists and designers.
The State Cinema Bookstore has only been open a short time, but are already becoming known as a home for quality choices in books and personalised friendly service. With cinema, bookstore and café bar all on the one premises, you can now enjoy a fine film, coffee or glass of wine, and take home your next great read all in one visit.
