Geoff Dyer is Tasmanian best-known painter. First starting out with watercolour landscapes in the 1970’s, Geoff has moved through the medium to his great passion; oil paint. After winning the Archibald Prize with Richard Flanagan’s portrait in 2004, Geoff’s output has moved from strength to strength. The preview will feature some of Geoff’s stunning large oils including one sensational 183 x 274cm canvas fresh from the studio (sorry no licking).
“My work is influenced by the power and majesty of the natural world, primarily focused on Tasmanian landscape I aim to capture what is at the heart of the Tasmanian experience. Over the past three decades I have covered many subjects, from the brooding wilds of the West Coast to the rugged islands of Bass Strait. The process of capturing, creating and finishing each work has been refined over years of informal study, overseas residencies, commissions, exhibitions and awards. I believe this experience demonstrates my commitment and loyalty to Tasmania’s cultural life.” Dyer 2015
