George Davis: Master Draughtsman is an exhibition revealing the consummate drawing skills of major Tasmanian artist George Davis, whose interests cross artistic and scientific boundaries.
The exhibition comprises finely detailed drawings of insects, birds and flora, as well as portraits, figurative studies and landscape. There are also paintings where underlying drawing plays an integral role are also included.
The exhibition is to be accompanied by the launch of a major book on the artist’s drawings. The image associated with this exhibition is called First departure, pre dawn (Fisher Island) and was purchased by TMAG from the Plimsoll Bequest, 2000.
