The Home Is Where the ‘Art Is exhibition is the result of many months of creative making in community members homes. Home Is Where the ‘Art Is, is an initiative from the Devonport Regional Gallery that was born out of the pandemic lockdown and restrictions that saw the gallery’s Creative Space shut down and its participants confined to their homes. No longer able to meet for creative workshops, the gallery took its art activities online with a different activity posted weekly and participants encouraged to share pictures of their work. Aimed to cater for a wide range of age groups the Home Is Where the ‘Art Is activities were a way of maintaining our creative community via the digital realm, at a time when separation and isolation were a necessity. Participants were encouraged to keep creating and sharing pictures of their work throughout lockdown as the benefits of creating and making are widely known for their positive therapeutic effect and influence on maintaining wellbeing. The Home Is Where the ‘Art Is exhibition is the result of many months of creative making in community members homes.
