I still base my paintings around direct observation but am increasingly drawn to subjects that lend themselves to a more abstract quality, hence my increasing interest in reflections and shadows.
I have included some “interiors” as they come from the same process, but by using artificial, sometimes multiple light sources, they become a kind of mini
landscape. The larger-scale paintings are the result of these collective pursuits. Ironically, these paintings are also based on direct observations but generally come from subsets of the more formal paintings.
