About
In his first major solo exhibition, Tasmanian interdisciplinary artist Alastair Mooney debuts a series works that capture the resilience and beauty of Tasmania’s native birdlife, in the face of human consumption and environmental destruction.
Mooney’s practice is heavily influenced by his early life in George Town, on the northern coast of Tasmania, which fostered in him a deep connection to the natural environment and native birds. Combining the innovative use of materials and recognisable local iconography, Mooney connects with his audience through humour, beauty, pop culture and natural science.
