Perspective showcases the work of local Tasmanian Wilderness Photographer David Murphy. Inspired by the incredible natural diversity of the Tasmanian landscape from wild, rugged coastlines to the peaceful tranquility of ancient rainforests, David has been photographing this beautiful part of the world for more than ten years. Making regular trips to the Cradle Mountain area David has a long and established relationship with the Wilderness Gallery and the iconic landscape which it celebrates.
It was the desire to capture the beauty of Tasmania that inspired David Murphy to take up photography. The incredible diversity of the natural environment from the wild, rugged coastline with its windy and weathered landscape, to the pristine, unique rainforests full of an ancient peaceful tranquillity and the surging rivers driving down and onwards to the sea; Tasmania is a photographers dream destination.
Murphy’s photographic career began in print film using single lens reflex cameras through which he began to develop his style. An evolution that has continued through the development of digital technology. Murphy has exhibited in galleries across Australia and has his own gallery ‘Cow ‘n’ Calf Art Gallery’ in the historic fishing town of Stanley on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
