The 2016 Design Tasmania Award has been judged and the Top Ten Finalists will be revealed behind smoke and mirrors to showcase a dynamic exhibition with each designer competing for a prize in the pool of $10,000.
The Awards are distinguished by their continued support of state-wide designers and makers, ensuring a platform that encourages entrants to design production ready objects and see them through to the final stages to market. Along with the three annual categories of Small Object, Furniture and Lighting, the Design Tasmania Award has expanded adding emphasis to sustainable innovative design.
Design Tasmania has had the exciting opportunity to partner with the Hawthorn Football Club adding a new dimension to the Award’s with the club creating a ‘Future Focused’ category and an acquisitive prize for 2016. This mutual partnership had both organisations supporting the future of design in Tasmania and this new award has enabled makers to focus on the direction in which the design sector is headed.
2016 is the Award’s 9th year and the top ten entrants will be announced at the Summer in Design exhibition Launch at the Design Tasmania Centre, Launceston on Friday November 27th 6pm, please join us in celebrating the final exhibition for the year.
The exhibition continues until late February 2016.
