Softly Speaks the Stillness is a mixed media exhibition by Tasmanian artist Jennifer Frost that includes 2D art works, 3D sculptural pieces, jewellery and related objects in silver, enamelling and gems. All pieces are inspired by her love and respect for the Cradle Mountain and Central Tasmanian landscape.
Jen Frost has been making art all her life. Best known for her jewellery, Frost is a multi-disciplinary artist skilled in many mediums. She now employs these techniques in mixed media art pieces that incorporate found objects, jewellery and silver smithing, drawn and painted elements.
Born in far North West Tasmania and having lived most of her life on the fringes of this area, remains the single biggest influence in Frost’s art practice. The spirit of her work draws on the vistas, textures and atmosphere of this varied landscape and through her work Frost seeks to introduce us to the myriad of intricacies in this unique environment.
