Curated by Belle Moody and Evana Tanner.
Solastalgia is a desire for home that is experienced whilst at home, or in a place that we love. This melancholia and homesickness can be felt due to environmental changes, or emotional disconnection from a familiar place.
Emerging artist Belle Moody explores solastalgia from the viewpoint of mobility, and the displacement that can occur as a result of being increasingly moveable. All works respond to the artist’s urge to record memories of family, individuals and location through plotting personal narrative onto the geography of place. This aims to create a sense of stability and belonging in ever-changing home environments.
Works are woodblock relief prints on Japanese kozo paper.
