Bizet's gritty and powerful opera

The dusty backstreets of Seville, the smugglers’ hideaway, the boisterous bullring…Carmen comes to life in this concert performance of Bizet’s gritty and powerful opera. Packed with incredibly popular set pieces – Carmen’s hot-blooded “Habanera”, Don José’s sensitive “Flower Song”, Escamillo’s swaggering “Toreador Song” – Carmen is an opera that remains as fresh and vital today as when it was first written.

Conductor Marko Letonja has assembled an all-star cast including Russian mezzo-soprano Elena Maximova, the preeminent Carmen of our times, Argentinian tenor Marcelo Puente and Teddy Tahu Rhodes.

Concert performance.

Sung in French with surtitles.
