Django & Grappelli: The Early Years

A hot club tribute to the early-career music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

About

By popular demand, we are excited to announce a second performance of our Django & Grappelli tribute concert!

The first event was held in April 2018, and sold out well ahead of the gig!
Please get in early if you wish to secure your seat at this next show.

Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli were two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century. The musical style of the “Hot Club of France” defined a genre and was the soundtrack of Europe’s emerging string jazz scene for decades.

Hobart based gypsy jazz musicians Harry Edwards (lead guitar) and Charlie McCarthy (violin) will perform two 45 minute sets of Hot Club of France favourites, with a chronological focus on repertoire from 1934 – 1940.

Expect classics such as ‘Minor Swing, ‘Dinah,’ and ‘Nuages.’ Harry and Charlie will be joined by Felicity Lovett (rhythm guitar), and Isaac Gee (double bass), for a fun night of swinging hot gypsy jazz.

The concert will be interspersed with stories and legends of Django’s adventures.

Bar will be provided, with drinks & refreshments available before the show and at the interval.

Doors from 7:30 pm.

Show starts at 8:00 pm and will consist of 2 x 45 minute sets with a 20 minute interval.

This is a seated show with limited capacity. As such, only 120 tickets are available.
