Friday Nights Live – Soul Loop
featuring Austin and Kieran Mulvany
Join us for our first instalment of Friday Night Live for 2021, a night of soul and contemporary song writing featuring Austin and Kieran Mulvany.
Austin is an original soul-r’n’b inspired band fronted by local singer-songwriter, Ruby Austin-Lund. Ruby has been writing songs for around 9 years, mentored at various stages by industry professionals, including Monique Brumby and Michael Spiby (The Bad Loves). Ruby spent her Honours year at the Conservatorium of Music in 2019 studying the music of Amy Winehouse and writing her own material informed by this. Ruby writes from her personal experiences as a woman living through the 21st Century and all that comes along with that. Austin has been playing together in various formations since 2018, and features Aleks Folvig on electric guitar, Hamish Jetson on bass and Luke Sanderson on drums.
Kieran Mulvany adds a more experimental, contemporary touch to the grounding sounds of acoustic song writing. Through the use of loops, effects pedals, acoustic and electric guitars, Kieran creates a very unique performance for the audience and tells many stories with his original compositions. Whether it be a song about a close friend or just some melodic commentary on a Sunday breakfast, Kieran Mulvany tries to write music for all of life’s experiences and doesn’t shy away from trying new genres.
