Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus

From the TSO Chorus come this bold group of twenty-four choristers who push the boundaries of choral performance. For this special Spiegeltent show they are coupling two unlikely bedfellows: chorus and electric guitar!

Chorus Director June Tyzack has partnered her ensemble with Baroque specialist, soprano, Helen Thomson and guitar virtuoso Zane Banks, winner of ABC Limelight’s Best Newcomer Award 2011, for an invigorating and unexpected program. Exquisite classic choral writing will contrast with spoken choruses, bizarre incantations, vocal percussion imitations of Indian Mridangam drums and Latin texts will be performed alongside searing Eric Clapton-esque electric guitar explosions. It’s choral, it’s electric and it’s extreme!
