The East Pointers – The Founders Room, Salamanca Arts Centre

The East Pointers are torchbearers for a new wave in traditional Celtic music.

With their adrenalized and ridiculously hip performance, beautiful songs, free-wheeling, feisty instrumental jigs, stomps and reels
and heart-breaking harmonies,
The East Pointers are torchbearers
for a new wave in traditional Celtic music.
They brought the house down on their 2016 tour of Australia, gracing the stages of more than 25 festivals and venues across the country.
Their 2017 national tour is sure
to raise the roof yet again!

The East Pointers are touring Australia from 1 March to 1 May 2017, with shows in Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The tour is presented by Woodford Folk Festival, with Tasmanian shows strengthened by presenting partners Cygnet Folk Festival. Complete tour details available ONLINE.

“The East Pointers are one of the hottest young traditional folk bands on the planet.”
– Geoff Wood, RN Rhythm Divine, ABC, 2016

The East Pointers have toured tirelessly and consistently spanning Europe, USA, Canada and Australia since the release of their debut album Secret Victory in 2015. Ontario guitarist Jake Charron and 7th generation Prince Edward Island musicians Tim (fiddle) and Koady Chaisson (banjo) make traditional music seem ridiculously hip. An adrenalized, roof-rattling, performance monster, the trio’s excellent debut album Secret Victory was penned mostly while touring in Australia.

Even before releasing Secret Victory, The East Pointers knew they were onto something, having accepted the 2015 Music P.E.IAward for New Artist of the Year, and Roots Traditional Recording of the Year awards. They were also nominated for Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year at the 2015 East Coast Music Awards.

They’ve since been awarded Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2016 Edmonton Folk Festival, won Touring Artists of the Year at the 2016 Music P.E.I Awards, and won Ensemble of the Year at the 2016 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

“These three guys bring something wholesome
and real to the genre.”
– Sebastian Skeet
