The Jive Dogs have been evolving around Launceston since late last millennium when Peter Waddle bought the wrong banjo to play Irish folk music and instead started strumming in a trad-jazz way with a collection of University Wind Orchestra musicians. Out of the wreckage, the All-Star Whoopee Fun Band emerged to play Dixie versions of disco and metal tunes, Muppet songs and anything by Captain Matchbox. Still the only band to ever put Kiss, AC/DC, Racy, Thelonius Monk, Weather Report, Adge Cutler and the Wurzels, Tom Waits and Fats Waller songs into the same set.
