Off the back of Glasgow’s famed Celtic Connections grand finale, and tours to the USA and throughout Europe, Ireland’s stunning group The Young Folk return to Australia for the launch of their Australian produced live album Live At Memo.
Billed as “Ireland’s most Exciting Band in Years”, The Young Folk balances delicacy with boldness, tender song-writing with A1 harmonies and musicality with a nod to tradition and indie-pop inflection, The Young Folk share an unmistakable Irish heritage in both sound and ancestory. The Furey name needs no introduction and harking from such a birthright leaves formidable shoes to fill, something Anthony Furey achieves with ease. His cracking set of vocal pipes sit at the helm of The Young Folk, effortlessly guiding the listener through finely crafted songs that appeal to the young and not-so-young.
The Young Folk have garnered legion of fans across the globe with perhaps their most notable being Ireland’s President, Michael D. Higgins who has organised the group to perform at multiple events at his official residence while Culture Ireland has strongly supported the group to globally represent ‘the contemporary sound of Ireland’.
