The Shock Of The Noise

“The NOISE are a revolutionary new music ensemble in that most of what they play does sound new and does sound like music… The NOISE will bliss you out.”

About

The shock of hearing The NOISE, was recently encapsulated by a somewhat conservatively minded SMH reviewer:

“The NOISE are a revolutionary new music ensemble in that most of what they play does sound new and does sound like music… The NOISE will bliss you out.”

For their first tour to Victoria and Tasmania, The NOISE (in their amplified cello & viola formation) will be performing works inspired by pioneering minimalist guru – La Monte Young, cult jazz trio – Dawn of Midi, avant-garde legend – Stockhausen, & a re-worked piece from their ‘packed out’ shows for the National Gallery of Australia’s 2015 Turrell exhibition.

Hypnotic ambiguous beats, experimental looping, immersive drones, shimmering overtone explorations, shortwave radio randomness, and improvisation will form the artistic focus of these concerts from the Sydney-based string ensemble that has been slowly garnering rave reviews for its live and recorded work.
