Tasmanian Theatre Company in association with Aurora Nova presents
White Rabbit, Red Rabbit
By Nassim Soleimanpour
The worldwide hit comedy about individual freedom, censorship and many other things impossible to define! Since it was written in 2010, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit has been translated into 15 languages and has played to sell out audiences all over the world.
Iranian writer, Nassim Soleimanpour, wrote White Rabbit, Red Rabbit to connect himself to the rest of the World at a time when he could not get a passport and so could not leave Iran. In this courageous theatrical experiment he takes the audience and the performer on a roller coaster ride of unexpected proportions.
Each night, a different performer who has never seen the play or read the script is handed a script in a sealed envelope in front of the audience. They open the envelope and plunge headlong into the unknown, taking the audience on that humorous, terrifying and personal journey with them.
Is this a political play? – perhaps – but everything is metaphorical, and the audience draws its own conclusions. You may never see anything like this again.
“hilarious, thoughtful … There’s magic here, and while it can’t be bottled you can certainly buy yourself an hour in its presence” – Crikey
