Ceramic Bird Making Workshop

with Eve Howard

About
Join Eve Howard, ceramic sculptor, for her second workshop at Wild Island, where you will have the opportunity to make your own gull/sea bird of your choice. All materials will be supplied on the day.
The workshop includes approximately 2 hours of making your bird sculpture, followed by another 2 hours of painting your finished bird. Eve will take your bird sculpture to her studio where she will dry and fire them. Three weeks later your finished bird will be waiting for you at Wild Island Gallery for collection.
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and children over 12. Just bring along your creativity, enthusiasm….. and an apron.
Bookings are limited to 10 people so get in quickly to avoid missing out.
Morning tea will also be provided, but please bring along your lunch, or some money to purchase something in the Salamanca area.

Eve Howard

Eve is a ceramic sculptor working full time from her studio in South Eastern Tasmania and producing a range of sculptural pieces inspired by her wild island home. Her studio is at the edge of the water at Sommers Bay, a beautiful place filled throughout the year with an ever changing array of bird life. Eve continues her major ongoing exploration of birds, in particular the sea birds that live around Tasmania.

People connect directly and immediately with Eve’s work. Her poetic pieces resonate with sincerity, warmth and a delightful simplicity of line and form. The joyous nature of her work has ensured that it ‘takes off’ from this remote beautiful island and travels the world, creating a connection with people that is global.

My environment is my stimulus. The southwest wind that blows into our bay, the birds that fish when the wind picks up. The delicate balance of land and sea creatures that inhabit the same places I do. Watching how nature plays out amongst the banksias and bull oaks, I am capturing the feeling of my life here at home, the beauty and importance of belonging. – Eve Howard
