Nicholas Tolputt is a young Australian opera singer with a bright future. He is the only singer in history to ever win both the Australian Singing Competition and the Sydney Opera Scholarship in the same year. With the support of these two internationally prestigious competitions, Nicholas has begun pursuing a demanding career on the world opera stage.

He has had the great fortune of being the recipient of a Glover Music Trust Scholarship, a Dame Melba Opera Trust Scholarship, and has held a Young Artist position with Pacific Opera.

A graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, he is also a proud benefactor of the Tasmanian Talent Team philanthropy initiative. Standout engagements include performing regularly at the Sydney Opera House and with such companies as the Melbourne Symphony, Western Australian Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, New Zealand Festival, Brisbane Baroque Festival, Auckland Festival, Adelaide Festival, Sydney Philharmonia, Pinchgut Opera, and Melbourne Lyric Opera.

Although his home base is now once again Launceston, he regularly flies internationally for singing engagements and currently studies in Italy with Sherman Lowe; one of the world’s greatest technicians and vocal experts.
