Session Title: Tango for Beginners
Description: Learn the five basic steps of traditional tango in an easy going, friendly atmosphere. Each session includes a recap of previous sessions and half an hour of guided “Practica” at the end to help cement learning.
The teachers, Jenny and Vince, use an intuitive process which enables you to work on techniques and steps at your own pace. They will be on hand for help and advice throughout each session.
What you’ll get:
- The skill of being able to socially dance a style of Tango that originated in the 1930’s, which is currently danced in Buenos Aires Tango bars.
- A taste of a beautiful dance, and the way of life of the Milongueros (people going out for an evening dance)
- Increased confidence with expression, musicality, creativity, feelings and elegance without the fear of criticism
- Lots of enjoyment, socialising, and gentle exercise for body and mind
- Print outs and information regarding traditional Tango
- A CD with some of the music used during the lessons for your practising at home
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothing
- Comfortable shoes with non-marking soles that allow you to pivot on the ball of the foot
- Water bottle

About the teachers:
For the past five years Jenny and Vincenzo Merlo have run Hobart Tango Encuentro, a 3-day event with teachers and performers from well recognised Australian tango schools, with Australia wide attendance and some overseas visitors.
They also run Tango Milonguero Tasmania, hosting ongoing tango classes at Mathers House, Hobart.
